I have never written a negative review, but it looks like I'm going to start now.

*Beware! Slight SPOILERS contained*

First off... the writing isn't terrible, but it's definitely far from great.

Upon starting this book I was intrigued by the reasoning behind why the H is how he is, so I pushed through the scrambled sentence structuring and immature style because honestly, I've read way worse. But I'm having a really hard time with the characters going from being friends for like 5 minutes, having a 2 second long conversation about their history, a bunch of sporadic (poorly written) sex scenes and then VOILA! "You're my forever! " I want to spend my life with you"

I get that a majority of romance genre = instalove. There's only so much foundation you can lay down for a relationship in 300ish pages. But this one just didn't do it for me. Instalust I embrace wholeheartedly. This was too far, way too fast.
I usually chuckle at the (over)use of the word scoff in novels like this one because how often in reality would you describe someone's behavior that way? However I found myself scoffing, pretty consistently, while chugging along in thus story. Here's a hint. When a mega rich, sexy rigid man types 'TTYL!' in a text message early on, just assume you're going to be mentally tearing apart words and actions written for the characters throughout the remainder of the pages. It's not that I expect ONLY truly realistic events and situations, but I'd prefer not to be constantly thinking of how unbelievable someone's words and actions are either. Obviously we want to read about grand gestures, wicked deeds and scandal in these books; they are an escape from reality. Not what I experienced at all in the first half. This book just really missed the mark for me, and I'm not going to finish it.

Forever Black Forever Trilogy Book 1 edition by Sandi Lynn Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I had high hopes for this book when I randomly came across it on and I can only be angry with myself for waiting so to finally start reading it. I loved this book so much. It was sweet, sad, I cried, and it made me angry. This book touched me on such a personal level as it deals with a serious topic that I am all to familiar with.

Ellery is one feisty, strong, and goodhearted chick. I loved her story so much. She did not take crap from anyone, not her prick of an ex-boyfriend, and certainly not the demanding billionaire Connor Black. The relationship that slowly starts to build between Ellery ad Connor is so beautiful. Ellery is carefree and high spirited and Connor is a little uptight in a rich kind of way. She just turns his life around is such an amazing way, that I enjoyed every moment of it. Don't get me wrong, they both have baggage, secrets, and pain that scare the living hell out of both of them. It leads to some friction in the relationship, but it was so real to me. They let the fact that they were both scared in the way of what they wanted to the most, but they got through it each time and that's what I loved the most about this book.

It was just so beautiful and heartfelt. It actually made me sad at times but I love Ellery and Connor so much. I was so happy with this book.
While I found the premise interesting, I had a hard time with the poor sentence structure, uncomfortable dialogue, terrible grammar and horrid punctuation. The most annoying irritation was the erroneous use of words. (When you shake your head at someone you are saying no, not yes. If you tell someone that there is no end to what you won't do for them, that's not a good thing.) The author also kept switching between past and present tense. And don't get me started on the number of apostrophes used in this book -- I could have started a drinking game and ended up with alcohol poisoning.

To be honest, Connor was the only reason I kept reading. The chapter that was written from his POV was by far the best in the entire book. His character was refreshingly different from what has become the common hero in these types of romances. He wasn't already an expert at everything under the sun -- he didn't even know how to eat with chopsticks until Ellery showed him. He also didn't rush her into sex. So often in these types of books the hero & heroine are going at it like rabbits by the second chapter. It was a nice change of pace that it took a while for them to become intimate. Connor Black was just so very likeable, I couldn't even get upset with him when he messed up. He genuinely deserved his HEA.

Unfortunately Ellery was not nearly as likeable. I found her to be one of the most immature and uncouth heroines I have ever been introduced to. Her first response in any disagreement was to yell, throw things, and slap/punch you in the face. The author tried to soften this up with her volunteer work at the soup kitchen, and I did have sympathy for the tragedies she had faced in her young life, but for me that wasn't enough to cancel out the crazy.

For interesting premise and good character development I give 5 stars, but poor editing and an unlikeable heroine drags it down to 3.
Forever Black (Forever, #1) by Sandi Lynn
This is the second time I started reading this book and this time I read it till the end.
I am not sure just what it is about this book , the story line is good, but it does not work for me.
Ellery is a young woman with lots of attitude and and anger, some of it justified regarding the cards she was dealt in this life. Connor is the emotional distant mega rich player who becomes interested in this young woman and this book ends with a Happy Ever After for now. Needs more editing and some of the situations are extreme, the reactions of the characters not consistent or believable.
There are more books in this series but after reading this book, I am done.
It was a Ok read, but could have so much better. 2 stars.
I have never written a negative review, but it looks like I'm going to start now.
